Problem
Found out how to force cycle my ice maker here. The ice maker successfully cycled, but it is not filling with water.
What I've Tried
- Inspected fill tube: I saw another post about a frozen fill tube here. My fill tube is not frozen from what I can tell.
- Checked water pressure: I removed the hose from the valve and then turned it on. I have good water pressure.
Expected Behavior
Ice maker should fill when force cycled.
Actual Behavior
Ice maker does not fill with any water when force cycled.
Additional Information
- Logs or Error Messages: No error messages or fault codes displayed
Question
If the fill tube is not frozen, and my water pressure is good, what else would cause the ice maker not to fill?
Type: Refrigerator
Brand: Kenmore
Model: 10659919703

Explanation
The reason why your ice maker is not filling is due to your inlet valve. P/N W10853654
Steps to Diagnose
- Force Cycle Ice maker: Remove the cover from the ice maker and jump the h and t holes. example here.
- Ensure fill tube is not frozen: Check out the post here.
- Ensure good water pressure: Turn off the water and remove the water line from the inlet valve. Use a tool or visibly ensure water is being supplied.
- Test the valve for 120v: Use a voltage meter to test for 120v at the valve towards the end of the ice maker cycle.
- Test water pressure leaving the valve: Remove the outlet hose usually connected by a push-connect. The valve should open and let water through towards the end of the ice maker cycle.
- Replace the inlet valve: If 120v is being supplied, good water pressure, and no water pressure coming out of the valve. It is safe to say you should replace the valve.
TLDR
The ice maker is not filling due to a bad inlet valve.
