What could be the possible reasons why the refrigerator compartment in my LG refrigerator is not cooling properly, even though the freezer section is working just fine and maintaining its normal temperature? I've noticed that the food in the fridge is not staying as cold as it should, while everything in the freezer seems perfectly frozen. I haven’t heard any unusual noises, and the unit appears to be running. Could this be an airflow issue, a sensor problem, or something else entirely? What should I check or consider before calling an appliance repair technician?

This fridge uses a single evaporator within the freezer. It blows the cold air from the freezer into the fridge section.
Possible Causes
-
Evaporator fan
-
Damper door
-
Defrost issue
Diagnosis
I would start by removing the back panel in the freezer, remove the door, shelving, then back panel.
The evaporator fan will only run while all door switches are engaged, make sure this is blowing properly.
See if there is excessive ice build up, there should only be a thin layer of frost on the evaporator.
There will be a hole above the evaporator fan, ensure that it is open, if the fridge is warm, the damper door should not be shut.
The goal is to find why air is not being blown from the freezer to the fridge section.

If your LG refrigerator’s fridge compartment is not cooling properly while the freezer still works, several factors could be causing the issue. One common reason is a blocked or frozen evaporator fan, which circulates cold air from the freezer to the fridge. A faulty damper control might also prevent cold air from reaching the fridge section. Dirty condenser coils can reduce cooling efficiency, while a malfunctioning thermostat or temperature sensor may cause improper temperature regulation. Additionally, a defective defrost system can lead to frost buildup, restricting airflow. If troubleshooting does not resolve the issue, seeking appliance repair services is recommended to diagnose and fix the problem efficiently.

If your LG refrigerator isn’t cooling but the freezer works fine, it’s usually an airflow issue—cold air from the freezer isn’t getting into the fridge because of a frosted-over evaporator fan, blocked vent, or a stuck damper control. It could also be a bad thermistor, clogged condenser coils, or a failing defrost system causing ice buildup that chokes off circulation. Before calling appliance repair, check for obvious stuff: clear vents, clean coils, and make sure nothing inside is blocking airflow. If that doesn’t help, you’re probably looking at a pro job to diagnose a faulty part or defrost failure.
