Problem
We started getting a significant amount of water leaking from under the door. It happened in a very short period of time, not like something was slowly wearing out. I'm a dummy on this stuff and found some great advise on this forum.
What I Tried
- Looked over seals: I found nothing out of the ordinary with the seals.
- Checked door alignment: I checked the alignment of the door thinking my youngin used the door as a ladder to reach for something.
- Replaced Spray Arms: I replaced the spray arms, the old ones were pretty clogged up, but the problem persists.
What The Dishwasher is Doing
The dishwasher is leaking from the door.
What Dishwasher Should Be Doing
The dishwasher should have 0 leaks anywhere
Question
What else could cause a leak from the bottom of the door?
Type: Dishwasher
Brand: Kitchenaid
Model: KUDS25SHBT1

Explanation
This is a bit rare, but sometimes with these Whirlpool (Kitchenaid) dishwashers, the upper sump screws can back themselves out, causing the lower spray arm to be crooked. This aims water to shoot past the baffles causing a leak to occur from the door.
Steps to resolve
- Remove Spray Arm: The spray arm has a nut at the base, twist counter-clockwise to remove the spray arm.
- Tighten Upper Sump Screws: Give some torque on the screws, ensure none are loose going into the upper sump.
Here is a diagram of where the screws are: Sears Parts Direct Diagram
They are in the Pump and motor diagram, part no. 3. There are 8 of those screws.
