Problem
I have a Kenmore Elite HE3 dryer, model #110.82832100. All the lights work on the control panel. (The unit is getting power). It appears to be working when the door is closed etc. When I turn it on, it seems as if everything is fine. I have no troubles selecting a program or anything like that. When I press and hold the start button, it beeps like normal. However it clicks and does not start. No error codes.
What I've Tried
- Tested Selector: I can select any program like normal.
- Tested Door Switch: The door switch works fine, I open the door, the light turns on. It turns off when I close the door.
- Unplugged and Plugged back in: Even after unplugging, and plugging in the dryer, the problem persists.
Expected Behavior
Upon holding the start button, the dryer should begin the cycle.
Actual Behavior
When the start button is held, the dryer beeps and clicks, then does nothing.
Additional Information
- Logs or Error Messages: No error messages or fault codes displayed
Question
What would cause my dryer to do this?
Type: Dryer
Brand: Kenmore
Model: 110.82832100

Explanation
The issue with your dryer not running is due to a blown thermal fuse. P/N: WP3390719.
How To Resolve
(Ensure the dryer is unplugged.)
- Remove the bottom half of the front panel.
- Remove the lint duct and lint trap.
- Remove the wires from the thermal fuse.
- Test thermal fuse for continuity.
- If no continuity, the fuse is bad.
- Replace the thermal fuse.
- Test the dryer. The dryer should heat and run like normal.
Tips
- Ensure you test continuity with the wires removed from the thermal fuse.
- The thermal fuse is accessible without removing the top half of the front panel.
- Ensure the dryer is unplugged before working on it.
- The bottom screws are easier accessed when the front feet are lifted a little bit.
Example
Here is a video on how to replace the thermal fuse: Replace thermal fuse.
