Problem
My GE GFE26JYMFS ice maker is not working.
What I've Tried
- Replace Ice Maker: I watched on youtube how to replace the ice maker, I think I did it right P/N WR30X35286
- Tested Ice Maker in diagnostic mode: Put fridge into diagnostic mode and force cycled the icemaker, the ice maker cycles and fills.
Expected Behavior
Ice maker should cycle on its own.
Actual Behavior
Ice maker only works in diagnostic mode
Additional Information
- Logs or Error Messages: No error messages or fault codes displayed
Question
The ice maker was replaced, what else would cause this issue?
Type: Refrigerator
Brand: General Electric
Model: GFE26JYMFS

Explanation
You have a problem with your ice maker fan motor. Either the motor itself is bad, or the power source (main control) is bad.
Steps to Resolve
-
Access ice maker fan: The ice maker fan motor is located behind the evaporator panel in your freezer.
- Remove the door
- Remove the drawers
- Remove the back panel
-
Check voltage: The ice maker fan motor should be getting at least 12v DC to run.
- If voltage is there and the ice maker fan is not running, the fan is faulty P/N WR60X25068
- If no voltage, you have a faulty control board P/N WR55X40448
Additional Tips
- Sometimes the door switches need to be triggered for the fans to run. Ensure door switches are triggered while voltage testing.
TLDR
Check your ice maker fan motor.
