Problem

I am experiencing issues with my Fisher & Paykel CD2304NN Cook Top. The bottom right burner is not igniting. I can visibly see the sparker working properly and gas is being released.

What I've Tried

  1. Cleaned orifice: I removed the burner and used a needle to clean the orifice. Plenty of gas is being released.
  2. Cleaned burner: I cleaned the burner cap. Especially the holes near the sparker.
  3. Replaced sparker: I went ahead and replaced the sparker just in case it was sparking the wrong area. This did not fix anything.

Expected Behavior

Upon turning on the burner, the sparker should ignite the gas.

Actual Behavior

The gas is releasing, the sparker is sparking, but the gas is not igniting.

Additional Information

  • Logs or Error Messages: No error messages or fault codes displayed

Question

I am now stumped. There is gas, there is spark, but there is no ignition happening. What am I missing?

Type: Stovetop

Brand: Fisher & Paykel

Model: CDV2304NN

Explanation

This issue is caused by a clogged simmer orifice.

Steps to Resolve

  1. Access the orifice: Remove the burner cap, there will be two orifices. The smaller one is the simmer orifice.
  2. Clean the orifice: This orifice is extremely small, to small for a needle. I use a piece of wire from a wire brush to poke out the orifice. (if you need to remove the orifice, it is 4mm, not magnetic. Don't drop it)
  3. Reassemble cook top: Install the burner cap.
  4. Test: Test the burner. It should now ignite instantly.

Additional Tips

  • The simmer orifice is 4mm and not magnetic, do not drop it. You can use tape in your driver.

TLDR

There is a second simmer orifice for each burner. Make sure that is also clean.
